Louise Zelia Carvalho
Diversity & Inclusion Programme Leader
Louise is born in the UK and raised in Canada, her heritage spans 3 continents. She has 2 passports, speaks 4 languages, and has lived in 6 countries. Following studies in Canada, France and Denmark, in 1997 she qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Law Society of British Columbia, Canada.
She spent her junior lawyer years at the Ministry of Attorney General in Canada (Constitutional and Administrative Law), followed by a year in the corporate sector in London, England. After 10 years "in the field" as a Legal Adviser for the United Nations and European Union institutions in post-conflict Kosovo, Louise worked from 2012 as a Legal Officer at the Organisation for the Prohibitation of Chemical Weapons (Nobel Peace Prize 2013) in The Hague.
Louise Carvalho joined CERN in October 2014 as a Legal Adviser and was appointed Diversity & Inclusion Programme Leader in 2018; she carries both functions at 50% and enjoys the frequent synergy between the two domains. Under the D&I hat, Louise continues to learn about and champion the business case for diversity and the absolute necessity for the workplace to be inclusive for everyone's visible and invisible characteristics.
Diversity & Inclusion Analyst
Kristine is from Norway and has a master's degree in gender studies from University of Stirling in Scotland, specialising in gender equality in the workplace and organisational culture.
Her background is in marketing and communications, and she has several years of experience from the global IT industry, start-up community, oil and gas industry, and the Norwegian Navy.
Kristine is passionate about gender balance in the workforce, and she believes that equality and inclusive culture in organisations is best achieved through openness, transparency, and communication.
