Diversity & Inclusion Strategic Oversight Board

The new Diversity & Inclusion Strategic Oversight Board (D&I Board), established in March 2026 under the Director-General’s sponsorship provides strategic and implementation oversight of CERN’s Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.

The D&I Board considers expert advice from the Diversity & Inclusion Programme, as well as the perspective and experiences of the departmental D&I Officers, the informal diversity networks, and D&I contact points within the Experiment collaborations. The D&I Board reviews and approves initiatives and action plans of a complex and high impact nature, ensuring they are aligned with CERN’s strategic priorities, values, and available resources.

The D&I Board brings together senior representatives from across CERN, combining operational, scientific, and human resources perspectives, and is co-chaired by the Director for Finance and Human Resources (FHR) and the Director of Site Operations (SO). An external D&I expert member (tbc) as well as permanent non-voting participants contribute additional expertise and perspectives. The Board will invite additional contributors on a regular and ad hoc basis.

Supported by the CERN Diversity & Inclusion Programme, the D&I Board operates on a consensus-based approach and meets two to three times a year to guide the development and implementation of impactful, sustainable diversity and inclusion actions across the Organisation.
